Labor and Delivery
Post babies, I have often wondered how I could continue to experience the awe and raw wonder of that first life again and again. Graham and I have talked about labor & delivery photography for years. I was convinced it was a path I wanted to explore. But how to get that first client?! I needed someone to ask me, not just allow me to photograph as a favor. Soon after a maternity session I received an email request and just like that, the opportunity presented itself. It was an amazing experience to capture a family’s most intimate moment. Afterwards, presenting those images to the family was simply incredible. Weeks later, the mom told me that the photographs were more important to her than the video, because she could slow the experience down and savor it even more. My goal is to capture the moment, in all its complexities, while going as unnoticed as possible. Logistically, I can only book one labor and delivery a month.
